My Commitment to the District
I will work with everyone - Superintendent, Board member, union representative, principal, teacher, parent, classified staff, student or community leader - who has ideas or resources that will improve instruction and ultimately learning. And, I will push back on those with other interests.
To Parents
Increased parent involvement can
offset the impact of DSUSD's increasing class sizes. These
quotes from a former U.S. Secretary of Education emphasize the parents' critical role in a child's education.
“Parents are children’s first and most influential teachers. By reading to children or having them read to us, by making sure homework is done, by monitoring television use, by knowing how children spend their time, parents can have a powerfully positive
effect on their children’s learning.”
“Successful family involvement is not a sporadic activity. It is a sustained commitment to instill the habits of learning and to set high expectations. It is making connections to teachers and schools not only when trouble arises, but as a part of the everyday
process of children’s schooling.”
To Students
“The purpose of life is to discover your gift. The meaning of life is to give your gift away.”
- David Viscott
School is a place that helps you find your gifts!
